Sandokan: The Pirate Prince

Sandokan survives a fake poison, part of Brooke’s pact with Marianne: her hand for Sandokan’s freedom. Brooke hopes Sandokan will overthrow the Sultan, leaving room for him. Indeed, Sandokan returns to the jungle, leading the Dayaks’ to free the slaves. Brooke strikes a deal with Guillonk to suppress the revolt in exchange for becoming Rajah. When Marianne learns of this, she escapes and warns Sandokan. The Sultan is killed, Brooke rules Sarawak, but the Dayaks are free. Marianne and Sandokan begin a new life as revolutionaries on the hidden island of Mompracem.
